Deployment orders and travel

Review an order before it reaches a responder. Follow the accepted assignment through travel and return.

Draft, review, and issue an order

A responder needs a clear, approved assignment before setting out. A coordinator drafts an order for a named responder. A different person must review and approve it. The order then goes to the responder.

The responder can accept or decline. Acceptance sets the dates used by the deployment. A delivered notice does not count as acceptance.

Extensions and successive deployments

An assignment may need more time, or a person may be asked to take another deployment. An extension creates a new order revision. It needs review and acceptance again. Until then, the earlier accepted dates stay in force.

DART supports standard, virtual, and training deployments. Incident rules control whether work can overlap. The checks also account for successive assignments.

Travel, arrivals, and duty stations

Once the order is accepted, the record needs to follow what happens in the field. After acceptance, staff can record travel. A responder checks in at the duty station and checks out when leaving. Corrections keep the earlier visit times.

Supervisors can record time away and changes in status. Daily checks continue through the accepted period, including travel.

Demobilization has completion checks

Returning from an assignment involves more than reaching the planned end date. Demobilization is the process of ending a deployment. The end plan states when the person is expected to finish. Required steps show what remains to be done.

DART checks due replies and equipment holds before completion. It also requires checkout. Setting a planned end date does not finish the deployment.

Reconstruct the deployment

After a deployment, staff may need to reconstruct the assignment and the changes made along the way. The deployment record follows the accepted order into the field. It connects travel to station visits and supervision. Earlier versions stay available after a correction.

Saved reports use accepted dates. A draft extension does not silently change the reported commitment.
